Description

Easily start a siphon: Just shake! Sized for a 12mm (1/2 ") garden hose.

If you want to empty a barrel etc using a siphon but find it uneasy to start the siphon - this is an easy way to do so. This shaker siphon is a actually just a valve. By shaking it down into the water (or other liquid), that water can easily flow in, but when you pull up again, the water is trapped and comes up, too. By shaking up and down, the valve and the water's inertia pump enough water up to start the siphon effect.

I tried to design it to have low flow resistance and not to be prone to catch debris.

Added a version with gardena adapter (check “Download STL/CAD files”), a version for ¾" hose, and one with garden hose thread.

Printing: It worked without a brim for me, but if it comes loose while printing, try adding a brim.
