It took a few iterations and a lot of improvements to create this final version of the holder, and I’m really proud of how it turned out. If you like the design, I’d truly appreciate your support in boosting it. Your feedback and encouragement mean a lot to me!
UPDATE
Added 2 more length variants and printable bearings which are giving more friction so spool is not spinning that fast (you can use some grease for bearings to make them a bit smoother).
All lengths are available in separate profile which is divided by plates with different lengths + End Caps + Bearings.
Printed by object by default, so A1 and X1C/P1S/P1P compatible.
Keep in mind that for all lengths you need bolt minimum 5mm (max 10mm) longer so:
- 55mm - bolt M5x60
- 65mm - bolt M5x70
- 70mm - bolt M5x75
Shorter roller les sagging for the mount as filament stays closer to it. In my case 65mm fits to all my fillaments as example:
- 55mm fits to:
- some cheap filament manufacturers
- 250g filament rolls
- eSUN ePla Matte (plastic spool)
- 65mm fits to:
- eSUN cardboard spools
- Polymaker cardboard spools
- Bambu Lab reusable spools
- 70mm fits to:
- Creality filaments (CR PLA etc)

I really love spool holder on the side designed by BC designs, but because bearings are situated outside the roller it makes it automatically much longer than needed. This design is about 25mm shorter than original one!

I also decided to make the roller shorter than most holders on the market where standard seems to be 90mm, from my observations all spools I have, fit easily on 70mm long holder, and that's my idea to make it as short as possible to reduce stress on mounting point between roller and mount on printer.
What you need is:
- M5 x 80 bolt (hex style) - I used this one, you can check the data sheet for reference.
- M5 nut
- 2 x 6000ZZ bearings (26mm outer, 10mm inner, 8mm thickness) - can be 6000-RS, / 6000-2RS just different sealing. As an example you can check those on AliExpress.
