I bought two used xbox controllers that didn't have the battery covers on them, and none of the designs I found online fit very well, so I went ahead and designed some myself. I've designed both the standard cover, as well as the elite (the tabs are just in different locations).

I also thought it would be cool to customize the covers with texts and graphics, and started making them for people. I've included photos of some basic examples, but you can make them pretty detailed and cool. I found the best way to do it was to draw the image or text on the face where you want it, and then remove .02 inches of material. I've included STL files so you can print them blank, and STEP files so you can customize them.

Printing the cover on its side worked well for me, and avoided lots of supports (you'll still need a few under the tabs) or marring up the face, but do what works best for you. It'll only be about 4 layers thick, so there may not end up being infill depending on your printer settings.
