Description

A minimal set of covers for the QRP Labs QMX radio transceiver. The case is a little bit smaller than the QRP Labs metal case and about half the weight.

Bill of materials:

  • About 30g of 3d printing filament (PLA is probably not a good choice due to it deforming in hot weather)
  • 10x countersunk M3 bolts, 10 mm (8 mm is too short, 12 mm is too long)
  • (Optional) Brass female-female M3 hex standoffs, 11 mm

If you are using the nylon hex standoffs that come with the kit, be careful when tightening the screws to prevent stripping off the threads.

The cover tolerances are quite tight, so you may end up with a case too large or too small due to filament shrinkage. The bottom cover's widest inside dimension can be used as a reference for scaling the print to the correct size, as they match the QMX's PCB dimensions.

NOTE: Do consider that this case is probably not as sturdy and protective as the excellent QRP Labs metal case.

Also check out the low profile buttons model for the QMX.
