This stand is designed specifically for the Zebra LP2844 thermal label printer.
It functions as a vertical printer tower, allowing the LP2844 to sit above a suspended roll of thermal labels and rear-feed directly into the printer.
The standard stand height is suitable for typical 4" x 6" thermal label rolls. Optional postmodern-style height extender feet are also included for users who need to accommodate much larger enterprise-size rolls.
The oversized roll shown in the listing photos measures approximately 7 inches / 177.8 mm in diameter.
The extender feet include recessed mounting points on the underside designed to accommodate standard 8 mm wide x 4 mm thick adhesive-backed rubber furniture dots, helping protect the surface beneath the stand and reduce sliding.
Label Roll Dowel
The included label roll dowel measures 31 mm in diameter.
Please measure the INNER diameter of your label roll core before printing this project.
If your roll core is too small to fit the included 31 mm dowel, reach out to me and I can create a custom-sized version for you.
And if you've already printed the entire stand before realizing the dowel doesn't fit your roll core... don't panic. Message me and I'll send you a properly sized STL free of charge, likely within the same day.
Modular Paper Guide
The rear paper guide is fully modular and can be removed or replaced independently from the rest of the stand.
This allows different guide angles to be used without requiring the entire printer platform to be reprinted.
The paper guides use simple triangular press-fit connections that are straightforward to reproduce or modify if you'd like to design your own guide geometry.
Height Extenders
The included height extenders allow the stand to accommodate significantly larger label rolls.
I recommend using the extenders even if your current roll does not strictly require them, as the additional height provides more flexibility for future roll sizes.
With the height extenders installed, the total height of the stand is approximately:
290.683 mm / 11.44 inches
Without the height extenders installed, the total height of the stand is approximately:
224.702 mm / 8.85 inches
Compatibility With @Our3DCosmos Legs
The rectangular press-fit support recesses used to connect the stand legs to the upper printer platform are compatible with the legs from the @Our3DCosmos "Thermal Printer and Roll Stand."
The connection uses the same approximately 64.821 mm x 7.06 mm rectangular interference-fit geometry.
This was done intentionally so that users moving from a smaller printer supported by the Our3DCosmos stand to a larger printer such as the Zebra LP2844 can potentially reuse the legs they already printed, rather than wasting filament.
For anyone designing their own compatible legs, those dimensions can also be used as a starting point.
Important Note About the Purple Legs Shown in the Photos
The purple legs visible in some of the printed example photos are the legs from the @Our3DCosmos Thermal Printer and Roll Stand.
They are shown only because I had already printed them previously and chose to reuse them rather than waste filament.
The purple Our3DCosmos legs are not included with this download.
The downloadable stand provided with this listing includes our own independently designed legs, and no part of the actual downloadable design was derived from or copied from the Our3DCosmos model.
