Spartan Benchy | Ancient Greek Warship

A classic Benchy... reimagined as an ancient Spartan warship.

This project combines the iconic Benchy with the timeless design of ancient Greek ships, creating a unique display model that is both fun to print and rich in historical inspiration. From the sculpted ram at the bow to the detailed sail and decorative hull, every element has been carefully designed to capture the spirit of classical naval vessels.

Design Notes

One of the biggest challenges during development was the main mast.

After several design iterations and print tests, I was finally able to achieve a stable structure by adding three discreet support braces connecting the mast to the hull. These reinforcements significantly improve the printability and strength of the model while remaining as unobtrusive as possible.

I'm very happy with the final result and hope you'll enjoy printing it as much as I enjoyed designing it.

Printing Notes

This model was successfully printed in PETG.

To obtain the best result:

• Print with the provided orientation.
• Take your time when removing the supports along both sides of the ship. They come off cleanly but require a little patience.
• Be especially careful not to cut the three support braces connecting the main mast to the hull. These are an intentional part of the design and are essential for keeping the mast rigid and stable.
• A pair of flush cutters and fine tweezers are recommended for support removal.
