2.5" SSD Dock + Cartridge System
This Collection includes model files for:
- Inner / Outer Case for the SSD Cartridge (with cutouts for printed artworks)
- BigDock: Sturdy dock with ball bearings to guide the cartridges in from the front
- SmallDock: Small, low-profile, simple dock. Cartridge insertion from the top.
- Blank front plates for both dock versions for your own customization.
These docks have been designed with 1 specific USB-to-SATA Adapter in mind: Sabrent (EC-SSHD)
Disclaimer
SATA data and power connectors are typically rated for 50 to 500 insertion cycles (mating cycles) before pin degradation.
Always insert carefully without needing much force.
Assembly Notes
Cartridges:
- Because of manufacturing tolerances for SSDs, you might have to put some thin tape on the SSDs before inserting them into the Case.
Just make it tight enough of a fit so that the SSDs wont slide out of the case when unplugging from the Dock. - The Handle has through holes for screwing in the M3x6 screws to secure the outer case to the inner case.
- I recommend gluing or double-sided tape the “top end” of the outer casing to the inner casing.
Big Dock:
- Put the Dock into the base first, then slide the Adapter in, and only then screw the adapter cover on.
If you put the adapter in the dock first, you won't be able to put the dock into the base. - The optional slide guard needs to be glued on or stuck on with thin double-sided tape.
- The FrontPlate can also be glued on or stuck on with thin double-sided tape.
- The Bearing Pins is just friction fit to allow easier removal of bearings. They slide in from the bottom.
- The Dock itself should fit nicely into the base. If it's too lose, feel free to glue down or use double-sided tape.
There are 2x M3 holes on the bottom of the dock, in case you want to bolt it down into something.
Small Dock:
- The FrontPlate can also be glued on or stuck on with thin double-sided tape.
- The Sabrent Adapter only goes in one way. Be mindful when inserting the adapter.
Customization
- Provided are 2 blank front plates (.stp) that you can customize.
- The Cutouts for printed artworks are of dimensions: 90 x 60 mm (1.5 : 1)
