Threaded Bottle & Cap Generator

This generator lets you create a completely custom threaded bottle and matching screw-on cap without having to manually model either part. Adjust the bottle size, wall thickness, shoulder, neck, thread profile, cap grip, sealing style, and more. The bottle and cap are generated together so the threads stay matched, and the bottle includes a solid collar that gives the cap a proper mechanical stopping point instead of letting it screw down until the threads become loose.

The default settings create a compact general-purpose container, but the same generator can make small parts jars, hardware containers, storage bottles, prop containers, decorative bottles, and larger screw-top canisters.

🧴 Output Mode

Choose exactly what the generator displays:

SettingWhat it does
Bottle OnlyGenerates only the threaded bottle
Cap OnlyGenerates only the matching cap
Bottle and CapPlaces both parts in a printable layout
Assembled PreviewShows the cap installed on the bottle
Exploded PreviewSeparates the parts vertically so the thread alignment can be inspected

📐 Bottle Settings

SettingWhat it controls
Bottle DiameterOverall width of the main bottle body
Bottle HeightOverall height of the body below the shoulder
Wall ThicknessThickness of the bottle’s outer walls
Bottom ThicknessThickness of the solid printable base
Shoulder HeightHeight of the transition between the body and neck
Shoulder StyleChanges how sharply or smoothly the bottle narrows
Neck DiameterOuter diameter of the bottle neck before threading
Neck HeightAvailable threaded height above the bottle shoulder
Bottom Edge RadiusRounds the outside bottom edge while keeping the base flat

The internal cavity automatically follows the exterior dimensions while preserving the selected wall and bottom thicknesses.

🔩 Thread Settings

SettingWhat it controls
Thread PitchVertical distance between each thread rotation
Thread DepthHow far the thread extends from the neck
Thread ClearanceRadial space between the bottle and cap threads
Thread DirectionGenerates right-hand or left-hand threads
Thread ProfileControls the printable shape of the thread
Thread ResolutionControls the smoothness of the helical geometry

The bottle and cap threads automatically extend through the usable neck and cap height. This allows the cap to catch immediately at the opening instead of having the first usable thread buried inside the cap.

The default thread profile is designed around FDM printing rather than using an excessively sharp mechanical V-thread that may look accurate in CAD but print poorly.

🛑 Cap-Stop Collar

The bottle includes a collar directly below the threaded neck. This gives the cap a solid stopping surface and prevents it from being tightened past the useful thread engagement.

SettingWhat it controls
Collar HeightVertical thickness of the stop collar
Collar OverhangHow far the collar extends beyond the cap
Collar Lower BevelSoftens the lower outside edge of the collar

The upper collar surface remains flat so the cap always stops at a consistent height.

🧢 Cap Settings

SettingWhat it controls
Cap HeightTotal height of the screw-on cap
Cap Wall ThicknessThickness surrounding the internal thread
Cap Top ThicknessThickness of the closed top surface
Cap ClearanceAdditional fit allowance between the cap and bottle
Grip StyleSelects the exterior cap texture
Grip DepthControls how strongly the grip pattern projects
Grip CountAdjusts the number of ribs or scallops
Top StyleSelects a flat, raised, recessed, or rounded top
Cap Edge RadiusRounds the outside top edge

Available Grip Styles

  • Smooth
  • Vertical Ribbed
  • Hex
  • Scalloped

The cap is automatically placed open-side-up in the preview and flipped into a printable orientation when using the separated print layout.

🔒 Seal Options

SettingWhat it does
No SealUses only the threaded cap and bottle lip
Compression RingAdds a raised contact ring beneath the cap top
Internal PlugAdds a plug that enters the bottle opening when tightened

The seal features can improve closure alignment, but actual liquid sealing depends heavily on printer accuracy, material, layer quality, and the selected clearance. This generator is not intended for pressurized containers.

🖨️ Fit Adjustment

The default thread clearance is intended as a practical starting point for normal FDM printing. Increase the clearance when the cap is too tight or decrease it when the fit is excessively loose.

Different printers, materials, nozzle sizes, extrusion settings, and part cooling can all affect the final fit. A small test bottle is recommended before generating a very large container.

⚠️ Important Use Notes

This tool creates general-purpose printed containers. Printed parts should not automatically be considered watertight, airtight, food-safe, chemically resistant, or suitable for pressure. Suitability depends on the selected material, printer, coating, and intended use.
