Description
This is my detailed rendition of the Music Man John Petrucci Majesty guitar, crafted with ultra-high detail and proportionate to the original design.
It prints in several parts, 23 in total, to ensure print quality and give you confidence in your results. Just need to glue everything together with your favourite CA glue.
The body top is contoured as the original guitar. Everything can be printed with 0.4 nozzle but if you want to be able to print the headstock and retain all the details (name and signature) you will need a .2mm nozzle. There are 3 versions for the body; plate 1 is the entire body laying flat, plate 2 is the top of the body printed at an angle to get the smootest curves (to glue on the body on plate 5) and plate 3, the body top laying flat for the easiest printing. Choose the one best suited for you! The neck is printed standing up to ensure a smooth, round neck. If you decide to go for 0.2mm nozzle, be sure to not use wood infused filaments! Trust me, you'll get a ton of nozzle clogs or underextrusion!!! (ask me why I know…) :-(
Everything is made to be scalable.
You can use different top pattern to get the effect you'd like. I used Hilbert curves on the centre part of the flat top version to have carbon fiber type of effect (similar to my friend's JP used to model this one). It took a while to get the right results, but this was really worth the time!!!
For the whammy bar, it is just a standard 1.75mm silk filament that I heated and formed as the bar, and glued into the whammy socket.
The tolerance are very tight to ensure maximum quality. If you printer is not perfectly tuned, you might have some sanding to do here and there. I didn't have to on my H2D.
