Description

This is a custom-designed petal-shaped lens hood for the Nikon Nikkor 80-200mm f/2.8D ED lens, created as an alternative to Nikon's stock cylindrical hood. The petal design follows the shape of the image frame more closely, giving better flare and stray light control at the corners while still allowing the hood to sit compactly on the lens.

The walls feature a Voronoi fuzzy skin texture, which adds a distinctive organic look, helps break up light reflections inside the hood, and gives the surface a matte, non-slip grip when mounting or removing it. The Fuzzy Skin mode can be modified in the slicer. It is designed to be printed in black PLA for a clean, factory-like finish and to keep internal reflections to a minimum, though other colours and materials can be used if preferred.

The 72mm mount was designed and fit-tested specifically on the 80-200mm 2.8D ED, but since many Nikkor lenses of that era share similar mount diameters, it may also fit other lenses with 72mm, though this has not been verified.

Two print profiles are included: a fit-test version, meant to be printed quickly so the user can check the hood's grip and alignment on their own lens before committing to the full print, and a final version for regular use. If the fit-test print is too loose or too tight, the mount can be scaled slightly in the X and Y axes within the slicer to dial in a proper friction fit before printing the final hood.
