🍄 Gas Spore Miniature – Floating Fungal Imitator
This miniature is part of the Monster Manual 2024 Collection, a series of iconic creatures faithfully reimagined as dynamic, tabletop-ready sculpts.
The Gas Spore consists primarily of a large, almost perfectly spherical fungal body. Its surface is thick, uneven, and organic, covered with swollen growths, cracked patches, warty nodules, and rough fungal textures.
The body is colored in sickly yellow-green, ochre, and brown tones, giving it the appearance of an overripe, decaying puffball fungus.
At the front of the spherical body is a disturbing horizontal opening surrounded by wrinkled, folded fungal tissue. Inside this opening sit two small round eyes positioned closely beside one another, creating an uncanny imitation of a face.
Several thin fungal stalks grow upward from the top of the body. Each stalk ends in a rounded, bulbous spore growth resembling a small reddish-brown mushroom cap or swollen fungal sac. The stalks vary slightly in height and angle, forming an irregular crown around the top of the creature.
Small pointed fungal protrusions and irregular growths emerge from the sides of the spherical body.
The Gas Spore appears to float above the ground, but for a physically printable miniature its underside is connected directly to the base through a dense cluster of thick hanging fungal tendrils, fibrous roots, and twisted organic growths. These descend naturally from the lower body and merge firmly into the terrain, creating a strong structural connection without requiring a transparent flight stand.
The tendrils vary in thickness and shape, twisting together into a tangled mass beneath the creature. Some are thick and root-like, while others are thinner and stringier, reinforcing its fungal rather than tentacled appearance.
The base represents a damp, decaying cavern floor with rough earth, small rocks, roots, and several small mushrooms growing around the creature.
Swollen.
Unsettling.
Ready to burst.
