Nameplate for the Kiev Series Cameras

The Kiev series of medium format cameras are getting older and often show up on the secondary market with missing or damaged parts. I recently bought a Kiev 6C with a corroded nameplate that had severe pitting. Rather than tracking down a replacement, I decided to 3D print one. Using the old nameplate as a guide, I designed a new one and chose the closest matching font, Cascadia Code at 13mm. I’ve included a blank version in the models so you can use your own font if you prefer. There are nameplates for both the Kiev 60 and its predecessor, the Kiev 6C, as well as versions labeled “Kiev,” the Cyrillic “Kneb,” and the modern city name, “Kyiv.”

Print the models flat in any filament and color you prefer. Black is the classic choice, but I went with red PLA to honor its Soviet roots. Be sure to enable top surface ironing for smooth, solid lettering. I finished mine with a silver paint pen, though layer painting works well if you have an AMS setup. For extra durability and protection, I filled the recess with UV epoxy, but that step is entirely optional.

Attaching the nameplate to the camera is simple with hot glue. It creates a strong hold but can be easily removed if you ever want to replace the nameplate sometime in the future.
