Description

The Mallard drake in full flight is one of the most iconic images in the waterfowl world — green head stretched forward, wings swept wide, the distinctive blue speculum catching the light. This stained-glass portrait captures that moment with layered feather panels across a dramatic spread-wing silhouette. In translucent PETG, the earthy tans and grays of the wing feathers glow with surprising warmth, and that blue speculum panel becomes the undeniable focal point.

✨ Features

  • Stained-glass aesthetic with authentic black leading lines
  • Multi-color AMS print — colors pre-assigned in the 3mf file
  • Full in-flight pose with extended wingspan and detailed feather layering
  • Iridescent green head, blue speculum, and warm tan body zones
  • Hanging loop integrated — no hardware needed beyond a suction cup hook
  • Flat single-plate print, no supports required
  • Printed at 175mm wide to capture the full wingspan composition
  • Translucent PETG or PLA at 2mm for maximum backlit glow effect

⚠️ Critical Slicer Settings (SVG-Origin File)

These three settings are required for clean panel separation and accurate hole geometry:

  • Slice gap closing radius: 0.5mm — Quality → Precision
  • X-Y hole compensation: −0.25mm — Quality → Precision
  • Wall generator: Arachne — Quality → Wall Generator

Color count: This design uses multiple distinct color zones across the body and wing feathers — an AMS multi-filament system is strongly recommended for best results.

🎨 Color Guide

Colors and filament zone assignments are fully embedded in the 3mf file — open in your slicer to see exact color assignments. Swap any zone to your preferred palette.

💡 Tips & Tricks

  • Best display: morning east light makes the green head and blue speculum panels particularly vivid against the warm tan wing tones
  • Translucent upgrade: at 2mm the feather panel layers glow with surprising warmth — tan and gray tones in translucent PETG read beautifully in backlight
  • Scaling for translucency: when scaling up, uncheck uniform scale in Bambu Studio and manually set Z to 2mm to preserve panel translucency
  • Outdoor use: PETG is the better choice for covered porch or sunroom windows — UV and moisture resistant
  • Pair it: hang alongside the AGW Wood Duck for a matching waterfowl duo — the in-flight Mallard and perched Wood Duck make a natural pair
