Boost Me (for free)

A tiny boost is an enormous motivation for me!!

I'm starting a collection of models on my MakerWorld page, dedicated to Rubik's Cubes and twisty puzzles. And where to start better than the Rubik's Cube.

Here is a fully-functional, reliable version of the iconic puzzle created by Ernő Rubik. It features a ball-core mechanism that ensures reliability, smooth turning and no pops while solving. The centers attach to the core with six M3x12mm screws. The print profile features the best printing orientation for all the pieces, ensuring that no “mechanism surface" ends up being too rough.

To assemble the puzzle, start by screwing five of the “Center_Base” pieces. Then, start to slide the edges and corners of the puzzle, untill you arrive to the last layer, the one without a center. Then, screw the last center into place. If you screw all six centers at once, you won't be able to assemble the puzzle, or you may damage some parts.

When assembled, adjust the tension of the screws to get the best turnig out of all six faces. Then, glue the “Center_Top” pieces, in top of the centers. Don't apply too much glue, for if you want to dissassemble the puzzle in the future. DON'T GLUE THE "CENTER_TOP" TO THE SCREWS!!!. Finally, glue the caps (the “stickers”) onto all six faces.

I recommend sanding a little bit the rough surfaces of the pieces to ensure better turning, specially the ones that are in contact with the build plate, are top layers or in contact with the supports. Feel free to use lubricant for Rubik's cubes to improve turning.

Have fun!
