Description

This detailed scale pilot figure was originally created for the cockpit of an Etrich Taube. The model was generated using Image to 3D Print from an AI‑created image of a historical pilot, resulting in a realistically seated figure suitable for many vintage aircraft models.

Printing and material information The model is designed to produce good results on both resin and FDM printers. For FDM printers with a standard 0.4 mm nozzle, the included 3mf file is fully optimized. In larger scales, the pilot can be printed with high detail in PLA. For very small figures, such as in 20 mm scale, resin printing provides the finest details. A well‑tuned FDM printer with high‑quality filament can also achieve very fine details and small scales in PLA. In this case, a 0.2 mm nozzle may be useful. The necessary adjustments can be made directly to the included STL file in Bambu Studio. Supports are required. The included Bambu Studio profile uses organic tree supports. Care should be taken when removing supports around the hands and goggles. Corresponding PLA print photos can be found in the gallery. Resin prints are also shown there.

Image notes and community gallery All figures shown, both PLA and resin, were primed and hand‑painted after printing. Since painting takes time, I often upload new pilots first with photos of the raw prints and replace them later with painted versions. The cover image was enhanced with an AI‑generated background to place the pilot in a fitting historical environment. The figure is fully identical to the real printed model. The unedited original workshop photos can be found in the gallery.

Support for historical aircraft models I invest a lot of work into reconstructing and refining these classic pilot figures. If you like the model, I appreciate a like. Feel free to upload your finished result as a photo in the reviews, especially if you have created your own FDM prints or paintwork. This supports the community and motivates me to create more models.
