Description
Josh Gore Works – Solo 80 4" Full-Range Transmission Line Floorstander
The Solo 80 is a tall, slim floorstanding speaker built around the Mark Audio CHR-70 full-range driver in a Mass Loaded Transmission Line (MLTL) enclosure. It was designed for near-field listening at moderate volumes, using a long PVC column as the acoustic transmission line.
The enclosure consists of a 4" Schedule 40 PVC tube that serves as the main acoustic line, with internal damping. A 3D-printed port is located at the base of the line. The top section is 3D printed in PETG/CF, and the design includes a wooden base for stability. The speaker operates without a crossover for full-range use. Easily powered by 5w Class A or 50w AB and Class D amplifiers and easily tuned by changing tube length, acoustic dampening, and analog or digital filtering.
