Description

What it is

A very easy and quick to print compact rectangular bumper cap that can be used as a door stopper, wall protector, or stop cap. Two part press fit design, the screw is hidden for a clean finish.

How it works

Mount the base with a 4.0 or 5.0 mm screw and wall plug, then press fit the front cap into place.

The front cap is tapered, so it fits nicely but can still be removed with a sharp object, since the fixed part has a small chamfer for this purpose.

Material recommendations

PLA is fine for normal indoor use. PETG is a good choice for tougher use. TPU also works well if you want a softer bumper.

 

Material usage / print time

Just around 18g and around 25 min.

 

Notes

Clean your build plate for best first layer results. I have also uploaded a print profile called Best Buildplate Cleaner. It helps remove filament residue from the build plate, preventing contamination from being transferred to your print, especially on light coloured visible parts such as this bumper cap.

I experienced this myself while making these caps, which is why I created this simple solution.

Test the press fit once before final mounting, results can vary slightly per filament and printer tuning.
