Exploding Spinning Top / Expanding Spinning Top

A fun model to show centripetal loads in action. As the model spins, the arms inside shoot outwards. The model is print-in-place and requires no assembly after printing. However, for a nice and smooth print please follow the following print setting recommendations. The spinning top also features a gear on top, so, if you please you can use with other launchers to get to higher speeds !

Print Settings Recommendations

Ideally use the attached print profile, but if you want to print it yourself please follow these guidelines for a successful print.

• Layer Height: 0.16 mm
• Outer Wall: ~ 100 mm/s (slower speeds will give more precise results)
• Supports ON BUILD PLATE ONLY 

• Enforce supports on a small cube around the base so that it doesn't fail see picture:

  

  After Print Recommendations

  The first time you print the spinning top the arms motion inside the spinning top will be a bit stiff. To get the best experience, after you print the spinning top gently push the arms back and forth to loosen the mechanism inside.
