Boost Me (for free)
I'm new to designing 3d prints so a boost would really encourage me to keep it going! Thank you!
This is the second iteration of the waste ramp that I previously made but with more accurate measurements and a few improvements - built from the baseplate up using images for more accuracy. This version seems to be working quite well despite the recent update that turns the cooling fan on after the first tool purge.
I have used the controls and was able to max out the distance without the bin colliding with the base of the printer. It should work with large prints. I have heard that after a large print and the bed is lowered to its max, the homing sequence can cause the bed to go even lower. The bin should still be in the clear but please always monitor it closely if this applies to you.
Improvements:
- More fan cutout clearance (more important on the Pro version. If a Pro user has any input, I'm open to making changes).
- Steeper and longer ramp - the top of the ramp is closer to the nozzle, making the little tail shorter. This helps prevent the filament totem poles. Not all filament behaves the same way but most will coil up nicely then slide down the ramp.
- The extruded filament during the loading process can get a little tall but has not stuck to the nozzle in my tests. Monitor it closely when swapping out filament.
- Chamfer angle reduced to make it print a little cleaner.
Requires (6) 6x3mm magnets.
Important Note: Use a PETG version for PLA prints and vice versa or use foil tape or kitchen foil to prevent the filament from sticking.
