Description

Summary

I am designing a series of drink coasters highlighting the USAF squadrons that worked on the AGM-69A Short Range Attack Missile (SRAM) carried by the B-52, B-1B, and the FB-111A during the Cold War. I was privileged to serve in the 5th Munitions Maintenance Squadron, Minot AFB. ND during this time working both in shop on the missile guidance/flight controls and on the flight line on the aircraft release system. The SRAM replaced the AGM-28 Hound Dog and was in active service from 1972-1990.

This is the fourth coaster in the series and depicts the 380th Munitions Maintenance Squadron (MMS) patch. The 380th MMS was based at Plattsburgh AFB, NY.

How I Designed This

I was able to connect with former service members who sent me photos of their unit patch, internet searches gave me a clearer image to draw the design in CorelDraw. Exported this as a dxf and imported into Fusion 360 to deboss into the upper surface of a coaster blank.
