Description

Konark Sun Temple Wheel – 3D Relief Wall Art

Bring a piece of world heritage and architectural marvel into your home with this highly detailed 3D relief of the iconic Konark Sun Temple Wheel.

Generated using the Maker Lab Relief Maker tool, this 3D model represents the legendary stone carvings of Odisha, India, into a piece of 3D printable art. The depth, intricate details of the spokes, and the surrounding traditional motifs catch the light beautifully, mimicking an authentic stone plaque.

  • Filament Suggestion: Beige PLA, Matte Ivory/Cream PLA, or Sandstone PLA for an authentic stone look. A matte black or dark charcoal PLA works perfectly for the outer frame border to make the relief pop. I printed it in Numakers Beige and Pitch Black PLA+ and followed their recommended profile on their website.
  • Layer Height: Printed with 0.2 mm (You may go with 0.16mm for fine details on the relief surface).
  • Infill: 6% (Grid).
  • Wall Loops: 2
  • Ironing enabled for Top surface.
  • Supports: Though enabled in the print profile, they're not required.
  • Framing: The model includes a clean frame. The sculpture is not a snug fit inside the current frame and has a 1-2 mm margin. I did this due to the hot weather at my place and to avoid any expansion of filament during printing due to excessive heat. I've used dual-sided acrylic tape to fix the sculpture in the frame.
  • Backlighting / Lighting: To truly bring out the details, hang or place this piece where it receives angled or directional lighting. The shadows cast by the 3D-printed ridges perfectly replicate the depth of the original stone carvings.
