Description

NorthSpore Boomr Bin Plug V2

After multiple grows and several design revisions, I'm excited to release Boomr Bin Plug V2. This version focuses on improving print quality, reducing material usage, increasing flexibility, and creating a cleaner overall design while maintaining a secure friction fit in the NorthSpore Boomr Bin.

Whether you're replacing your original plugs or printing a new set, V2 is designed to be easier to print, easier to use, and more durable.

Features

Reduced Interior Surface Area

The V2 plugs have less surface area exposed inside the monotub. While no design can eliminate contamination risk, reducing unnecessary surfaces provides fewer places where contaminants can accumulate and makes the plugs easier to clean.

Smoother Sealing Surfaces

One of the biggest improvements in V2 is the printing strategy.

The recommended print profile uses TPU for the main body, a TPU support raft/base, and a PLA support interface. Because TPU does not bond to PLA, the supports separate cleanly, leaving the sealing surfaces significantly smoother than traditional TPU support methods.

The result is a cleaner finished part with very little post-processing.

Uses Less Filament

The updated geometry reduces filament usage without sacrificing performance, making the plugs faster and more economical to print.

Improved Flexibility

The walls have been refined to increase flexibility, allowing the plugs to compress more easily during installation while maintaining a secure friction fit.

Two Versions Included

This download includes both versions so you can choose the one that best fits your needs.

Standard Plug

  • Clean, low-profile appearance
  • Minimal protrusion from the tub

Handled Plug

  • Easier to install and remove
  • Ideal if you frequently change airflow configurations

Print Recommendations

For the best results, use the included print profile.

Recommended Profile: Uses a TPU body with a PLA support interface to produce significantly smoother sealing surfaces than traditional TPU support methods.

Print Settings

  • Standard 0.4 mm nozzle
  • Main material: TPU
  • Support raft/base: TPU
  • Support interface: PLA

This profile can also be printed on a single-nozzle printer using manual filament changes.

If you print using only TPU for both the model and supports, the plugs will still function, but supported surfaces may require additional cleanup.

Because this design relies on the flexibility of TPU, printing the main body in rigid materials such as PLA, PETG, or ABS is not recommended. The plugs may not fit or seal correctly.

Compatibility

Designed specifically for the NorthSpore Boomr Bin.

These plugs are fully compatible with my Automated Boomr Bin Quick Disconnect, allowing you to quickly seal the exhaust port whenever the fan assembly is removed for cleaning, harvesting, or maintenance.

Feedback

If you print a set, I'd love to see your makes and hear your feedback. Every revision of this project has been driven by real-world testing and community input, and I plan to continue improving the design over time.

If you create your own print profile or make improvements, please consider sharing them with the community.

Happy printing! 🍄
