Description

WARNING: Do NOT print this with PLA. Your entire weight will rest on the print, PLA cannot handle such forces permanently. 

 

Sooner or later, the piston in most office chairs gets weaker and weaker until it can no longer hold up a person. Most fixes you can find for this online are very visible and look pretty… janky at best. 

 

This fix is different: no hose clamps, no duct tape, and no visible change to the chair. This fix is entirely hidden within the base of the chair. 


The print itself is a disk that should fit into most office chairs. It's 5mm thick, so just print as many as you need until your chair reaches the desired sitting height. I highly recommend printing the disks out of TPU or PETG with 100% infill since they will need to withstand your entire weight. 

This fix also DOES NOT require taking the actual piston apart, all you need to do is remove the chair's wheelbase, which doubles as the housing around the piston. It is completely safe to do this.
