🏔️ Japanese Shadow Box – Fuji, Sakura & Pagoda (No AMS needed!)
Bring a piece of traditional Japanese aesthetic into your home! This beautiful, multi-layered shadow box features the majestic Mount Fuji, framed by blooming cherry blossoms (Sakura), a classic pagoda, and a radiant full moon reflected in the water. The finished model is perfect as a decorative eye-catcher for your bookshelf or desk.
The best part? You absolutely don't need an AMS (Automatic Material System) for this model! Each layer is printed completely individually on its own print plate. This allows you to easily experiment with different filament scraps and colors to create your own unique look.
🛠️ Project Details & Assembly
The entire project consists of a total of 16 separate print plates:
- 14 Design Plates: Each plate contributes a precise level and color to the plastic 3D effect. The individual segments are particularly finely cut out.
- 1 Back Plate: Equipped with small alignment pins to perfectly stack the layers.
- 1 Front Frame: A simple, elegant frame that encloses the entire artwork.
Assembly:
- Print all 14 design plates in your desired colors.
- Simply stack the plates one after another onto the back plate.
- Place the front frame – depending on the fit of your prints, you can fix the layers and the frame with a few drops of glue.
🖨️ Print Recommendations (Print Settings)
- Layer Height: 0.2 mm (or finer for even cleaner curves on the blossoms)
- Infill: 15% – 20% (Gyroid recommended)
- Support: Not required! All plates are designed to be printed flat and without support structures.
- Filament Tip: Matte filaments (e.g., Matte White for the frame, Matte Navy Blue for the mountain) are excellent for minimizing reflections and enhancing the typical "Paper-Cutout"-look.
