Thanks for your support!

A compact handle with an integrated spring-loaded auto-latch.

Simply pull the release pin to open, and the latch automatically engages again when closing. See GIF in the gallery.

The design is suitable for a wide range of doors, gates, hatches, enclosures, or other DIY projects where a simple automatic latching mechanism is desired.

Features:

  • Spring-loaded automatic latching
  • Robust construction
  • One-handed operation
  • Easy to assemble
  • No AMS required, prints without supports
  • With a drilling template for easy alignment
Tip: Start by printing just the drilling template if you want to get a feel for the size

Assembly:

Part overview:

Press the pin into the sliding latch:

If it is not fitting perfect you could scale the pin in bambu studio.

Attach the sliding latch into the handle:

Add the cover plate. The cover is designed to fit loosely on the handle. Stability is achieved later using the two screws.

Attach the cover plate for the latch keeper.

Mounting it on the door/gate etc:

  • Use the drilling template to mark the positions of the 4 screws with a pencil.

  • Now pre-drill these holes with a suitable drill bit.
  • Use 4 countersunk screws, size 4x45 mm, or ideally 4x50 mm.
3.5x45 mm / 3.5x50 mm should also work.

Adjustable for Offset Installations

The design works with both flush and offset installations.

If the two mounting surfaces are not aligned, simply scale the Latch Keeper in the slicer along its height by the same amount as the offset. This keeps the latch perfectly aligned and ensures reliable operation.

Example: If the frame extends 10 mm further than the door or gate, scale the Latch Keeper 10 mm shorter in height. This keeps the latch aligned.

Print settings:

  • All parts can be printed without supports
  • Add extra walls/infill for the parts: Both cover plates and the sliding latch

Filament:

  • The spring was successfully tested with PLA Basic and PETG.
  • If you want to use the model outdoors, I recommend PETG, ABS, or, ideally, ASA.
