DiveStar: Bloom

DiveStar: Bloom is a 100% print-in-place articulated water toy designed for pools, bathtubs, and underwater fun. Built around DiveStar's signature dual-buoyancy design, Bloom doesn't simply sink or float—it comes alive beneath the surface.

 

Drop Bloom into the water and watch as its weighted center gently settles to the bottom. As the body anchors itself, the six articulated arms naturally rise toward the surface, creating a captivating underwater display that sways and dances with every ripple and current.

 

Whether you're challenging friends to retrieve it from the deep end, keeping kids entertained in the pool, or adding a unique interactive decoration to an aquarium, Bloom creates a fun underwater experience that's unlike traditional dive toys and articulated models.

Material Recommendation

DiveStar: Bloom was designed for PETG. Its density provides the ideal balance for the weighted center while offering excellent resistance to UV exposure and chlorinated pool water. PLA can be used successfully, but PETG is recommended for maximum durability and long-term outdoor use.

Included Print Profiles

Two pre-configured print profiles are included with optimized settings and infill modifiers already configured for perfect underwater performance.

  • 180mm: Compact size compatible with the A1 Mini.
  • 220mm: Larger version that's easier to spot and retrieve in deeper pools.

Manual Slicing Guidelines

If you prefer to slice the model yourself, use the following settings to achieve the intended buoyancy.

  • Center Body: 100% infill
  • Arms: 
    • Last arm segment (furthest from center) = 0% infill
    • Second to last arm segment = 25% infill
    • Third to last arm segment = 50% infill
    • Fourth to last arm segment = 75% infill
    • All other segments = 100% infill
  • Perimeters: Minimum of 3 walls to ensure the hollow arms remain watertight.
  • Supports: None required. The model prints completely in place.
