Description

Magnetic Camera Body Cap with SD Card slot & NFC (Canon EF Mount)

Never get caught at a shoot without a backup memory card—or your digital business card—again! This multi-functional Canon EF Mount Body Cap doesn't just protect your camera's sensor from dust and scratches, it also houses a full-sized SD card and an optional hidden NFC tag right inside.

Designed with a sleek, geometric aesthetic, the cap splits into two halves secured by powerful magnets. Use the embedded NFC tag to instantly share your portfolio, Instagram link, or "If Found" contact information with a simple tap of a smartphone!

📷 Why You Need This Print

  • Emergency SD Backup: A dedicated slot keeps a spare SD card completely safe and always attached to your camera body.
  • Smart NFC Integration (Optional): Embed a 25mm NFC tag mid-print to link directly to your photography portfolio, social media, or contact info in case your camera is lost.
  • No-NFC Version Included: Don't have an NFC tag? No problem! I have included a solid version of the top cap without the internal NFC cavity so you can still enjoy the SD card storage.
  • Satisfying Magnetic Closure: Uses standard 6x3mm magnets for a snappy, secure "click" that won't budge in your camera bag.
  • Optimized 3-Piece Design: Split into three distinct components (Base, Cover, and SD Slot) to avoid complex overhang failures and ensure a clean, precise fit.

🛠️ Hardware & Print Settings

To fully assemble this print, you will need:

  • Magnets: 16x 6x3mm round neodymium magnets.
  • NFC Tag (Optional): 1x Round 25mm NFC coin tag (only needed if printing the NFC version of the cap).
  • Glue: A small drop of superglue
  • Supports: Activated (included in the print profile) to ensure the crispest details on overhangs.

🧱 Assembly & Printing Instructions

1. Choose Your Top Cap & Print

Pick the version that fits your needs:

  • NFC Version: Features an internal pocket designed to pause mid-print so you can drop in your tag.
  • Standard Version: A clean, solid cap for those who just want the SD card holder without the NFC functionality.

This model is split into 3 separate parts: the Camera Body Cap Base, your chosen Top Cover, and the Internal SD Slot. A small amount of support material is used in the pre-configured print profile to ensure clean threads and precise geometric details.

2. Embed the NFC Tag (NFC Version Only)

The included print profile for the NFC cap is pre-configured with a pause-at-height command.

  • Start printing the main cap section.
  • The printer will automatically pause right before covering the internal NFC cavity.
  • Drop your 25mm NFC tag into the recess (ensure it sits completely flush) and resume the print to seal it.

3. Glue the SD Slot

Once printed take the individual SD card slot piece and use a small dab of superglue to secure it directly into the recessed center of the bottom camera cap base. (Splitting this into a separate piece prevents printing failures!).

4. Insert the Magnets

Press or glue your 6x3mm magnets into the circular slots on both the base and the cover.

Pro-Tip: Double-check your magnet polarities before gluing them in so the top and bottom halves attract instead of repel!
