Description

Subaru Ascent Rear Window Shade Handle

It is incredibly frustrating when small interior pieces like a sunshade handle snap off, especially in a family hauler like the Subaru Ascent where those rear shades get a ton of daily use. One of my kids decided to rip one out so here we are.

Because Subaru integrates the original handle directly into the sunshade mesh fabric assembly, dealerships will often tell you that you have to replace the entire rear door trim panel or the whole roller blind assembly, which can easily cost hundreds of dollars.

Fortunately, a much cheaper, albeit ugly, fix exists.

Go easy on me. I am a dad with a new 3D printer. Zero experience in design and no clude what I am doing. However, I mocked up this little guy to be able to use our broken rear sunshade again! I drilled two hole in the plastic framework of the shade, snaked some paracord through, and secured. This won't win any design awards or beauty contests, but hopefully it will help a fellow Subaru owner out in a pinch.
