Floating Monstera Leaf for Ponds, Water Features & Pools

Bring a tropical touch to your pond or water feature with this fun and functional floating Monstera leaf!

This 3D-printed leaf is designed to float on the water surface, adding a natural decorative element while providing practical benefits for both wildlife and your aquatic environment. It creates shade for fish on hot summer days, offers a comfortable resting spot for frogs, and can even serve as a small refuge for insects that need a place to rest or escape from the water.

Features

  • 🍃 Tropical Monstera leaf design
  • 🐟 Provides shade for fish
  • 🐸 Floating perch for frogs
  • 🐝 Resting platform for insects
  • 💧 Stable floating construction
  • 🔧 Hidden compartment for flotation material
  • 🖨️ Easy to print and assemble

How It Works

The leaf features a removable bottom cover that creates a hidden compartment underneath. Simply place a piece of Styrofoam (or other lightweight floating material) inside, close the cover, and the leaf will float easily while remaining stable on the water surface.

More Than Just a Pond Decoration

While originally designed for ponds and water gardens, the floating leaf also works great in rainwater tanks, decorative water containers, fountains, and even swimming pools.

Besides being an attractive decoration, it can provide a safe resting place for frogs and a helpful escape platform for insects that land on or fall into the water.

Printing Recommendations

I printed mine in PLA, and it has been holding up well so far. For long-term outdoor use, however, PETG is recommended for its better resistance to UV exposure, water, and changing weather conditions.

Printing Tip

For the window section, I used transparent filament. If you don't have transparent PETG available, a very light blue filament can create a similar effect and looks great on the water.

Whether you're looking to add a tropical accent to your pond, create extra shade for fish, or provide a small floating refuge for wildlife, this Monstera leaf is a simple and enjoyable project to print.

Enjoy! 🍃
