A 3D-printable adapter plate for mounting a UniFi U7 LR access point to a standard 4-inch octagon electrical box.
This was designed for commercial-style warehouse installations where APs are mounted from ceiling conduit drops instead of directly to drywall, ceiling tile, wood, or Unistrut.
The adapter bridges the octagon box screw pattern to the UniFi AP mounting bracket and provides a clean cable path through the center of the plate. This mounting plate was designed to make UniFi U7 LR access point installations cleaner and more repeatable when using standard octagon electrical boxes.
In the intended installation, the octagon boxes are suspended from ceiling conduit drops in a warehouse environment. The adapter plate attaches to the octagon box using the standard box screw locations, then the UniFi AP mounting bracket attaches to the raised standoffs on the printed plate.
The raised standoff design provides clearance behind the UniFi bracket for the Ethernet cable, while the large center opening allows the cable to pass cleanly through the box and into the AP.
This is useful for commercial, warehouse, shop, and open-ceiling installations where a standard flat AP mount does not line up cleanly with an octagon box.

Recommended Materials
For a warehouse or commercial ceiling install, I would recommend:
- PETG — good minimum choice for strength and heat resistance
- ASA — better for UV, heat, and long-term durability
- ABS — acceptable if printed reliably
- PLA — okay for test fitting, but not recommended for permanent commercial ceiling installations
For actual field deployment, I would avoid PLA. Warehouses can get hot near ceilings, and PLA can soften or creep over time.
As always I encourage you to share pictures of your printed items… Additionally helpful feedback is always welcomed!
