Thrain Butteraxe — Tavern Chef
 

Thrain Butteraxe is the loud, proud, and dangerously enthusiastic chef of Pighorn Tavern. A sturdy dwarf in a stained apron and tall cooking hat, he rules the kitchen like a battlefield, armed with boiling pots, sharp knives, and a roll of sausages wrapped around one arm.

Nobody knows exactly what goes into all of Thrain’s recipes, and most guests are too hungry or too frightened to ask. He can turn almost anything into stew, pie, roast, or something that looks edible after enough ale. His food is heavy, smoky, spicy, and somehow always served with a story about an old fight, a lost recipe, or a customer who “complained only once.”

Behind the shouting, Thrain is loyal to the tavern and protective of its people. He hears secrets through the kitchen door, feeds those who cannot pay, and may know more about poison, rare ingredients, and suspicious deliveries than he admits.

Use him as a tavern NPC, comic relief, quest contact, secret supplier, suspicious cook, or the one person who can identify a monster by how it smells in the frying pan.
