Homemade Cheese Maker Box & Press (Just Add Cheesecloth!)
Turn your kitchen into a craft creamery with this 3D-printable Cheese Maker Box. Designed with optimal drainage slots on all four sides and the base, this mold ensures efficient whey removal for perfect cheese consistency every time.
It features a dual-purpose modular plate:
- Drop-In Press Plate: Use it inside the box to evenly press down on your cheese curd and extract excess moisture.
- Elevated Stand: Flip the plate over outside the box, and the integrated feet lift the mold off your countertop, allowing the whey to drain freely underneath without sitting in liquid.

Features & Print Tips
- No Supports Needed: Designed for easy printing.
- Smart Drainage: Vertical wall slots and a grid base maximize airflow and moisture escape.
- Material Recommendation: I highly recommend printing this in PETG or a food-safe certified filament. Remember to always use a clean, tight-weave cheesecloth layer between your curds and the 3D-printed surface for hygiene and easy cleanup!
Quick & Easy Homemade Paneer / Cottage Cheese Recipe
Want to test your print right away? Here is a simple, beginner-friendly cheese recipe you can make in under 30 minutes.
Ingredients & Tools:
- 2 Liters of Full-Cream Milk
- 2–3 Tablespoons of Lemon Juice or White Vinegar
- A pinch of salt (optional)
- Clean Cheesecloth
Step-by-Step Instructions:
- Heat the Milk: Pour the milk into a pot and bring it to a gentle boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally to prevent burning.
- Curdle: Once boiling, turn off the heat. Slowly add the lemon juice or vinegar one tablespoon at a time, stirring gently. You will see the milk instantly separate into thick white curds and yellowish liquid (whey). Let it sit for 5 minutes.
- Line the Mold: Place your 3D-printed Cheese Maker Box onto a tray. Line the inside of the box with a damp, clean cheesecloth, letting the edges hang over the sides.
- Strain: Strain or ladle the curds directly into the cloth-lined box. Rinse the curds with cold water right in the mold to remove any lingering lemon/vinegar taste. Mix in salt if desired.
- Press: Fold the overhanging cheesecloth over the top of the curds. Place the included press plate on top. For a firmer cheese (like Paneer), place a heavy object (like a jar of water or a clean can) on top of the plate and let it drain for 30 to 60 minutes.
- Unmold & Enjoy: Remove the weight, unwrap your cheese, and it’s ready to slice, fry, or eat fresh!
