Description

Fully Parametric 3D Printed Cajón (Customizable & Tunable)

Bring rhythm to your print bed with this fully parametric 3D printable cajón! Designed for makers, musicians, and experimenters alike, this model allows you to create a completely customized percussion instrument tailored to your preferences and printer capabilities.

🔧 Fully Customizable Parameters

Dial in your perfect cajón with adjustable:

  • Length, width, and height
  • Sound port diameter
  • Batter head thickness

Whether you're scaling it down for a compact desktop drum or maximizing your build volume for deeper tones, the choice is yours.

🥁 Tunable Design

The cajón is printed in two main parts:

  • Main body (box)
  • Batter head (front striking surface)

These attach using M4 heat inserts and M4 machine screws, allowing you to adjust tension and fine-tune the sound. Experiment with screw tightness to achieve different tonal characteristics.

🔊 Slap Corner Feature

For added expression, the top corner screws are intentionally left out. This lets you insert small pieces of paper or cardboard to create “slap corners”, where the batter head slightly separates and snaps back against the body—producing that classic cajón slap sound.

🎨 Endless Style Options

Make it your own:

  • Print with wood PLA and stain for a traditional look and warmer tone
  • Go bold with multi-color, rainbow, or specialty filaments
  • Adjust size and proportions to fit your build plate and aesthetic

🧠 Designed for Experimentation

This isn’t just a print—it’s a platform for creativity. Explore how size, material, and tension affect sound, and build a cajón that’s uniquely yours.

Notes:

  • Designed for standard M4 heat inserts and machine screws
  • Recommended to use a sturdy infill for optimal acoustic performance
  • Wood-filled filaments can enhance both appearance and sound

Create it. Tune it. Play it.
