Description

Summary

I own a 1958 FKD 13×18 large format camera made in Kharkiv. It was originally designed to use old wooden film holders. Recently, I purchased several newer plastic FKD film holders, but unfortunately they did not fit my camera. It turned out that these holders are slightly larger than the original wooden ones. To solve this problem, I designed and printed a replacement back specifically for this type of holder. It should be compatible with early FKD 13×18 cameras.

Requirements

  1. 2 × M3 × 10 mm screws
  2. 2 × M3 heat-set inserts (4.5 × 3 × 3 mm)
  3. Ground glass, 138 × 178 mm, 2 mm thick
  4. 2 paper clips made from 1 mm wire
  5. Approximately 160 g of PLA or PETG filament

Assembly Instructions

  1. Print all small parts first. You must have Lock_Part-1 ready before printing the main frame body.Important: Do not glue Lock_Part-1 and Lock_Part-2 together at this step
  2. Prepare Back_plate.stl for printing and add a pause in your slicer at the layer shown in the screenshot
  3. When the printer pauses, place Lock_Part-1 into its designated slot and resume printing
  4. Print Glass_holder
  5. To connect Back_plate and Glass_holder using the Hinge, I used ordinary paper clips straightened with pliers
  6. Install the heat-set inserts into Glass_holder using a soldering iron
  7. Install the ground glass and assemble all parts together
