Description

Hot Dog Lightsaber (Updated & AMS-Free Version)

This Hot Dog Lightsaber is an updated and improved version of the original Hot Dog Bo Staff previously shared on MakerWorld.

The primary goal of this redesign was to make the model significantly easier to print, assemble, and customize for a wider range of users. Unlike the original design, this version is pre-painted and configured to be printed without requiring an AMS system. The model has also been broken into more manageable components with connector-based assembly, resulting in improved print reliability and overall print quality.

Key Improvements

  • Pre-painted model setup for easy printing.
  • Designed to print without an AMS.
  • Simplified assembly through connector-based construction.
  • Improved print quality and reliability.
  • Easy color customization using the Fill Paint tool.
  • Optimized for only four filament colors:
    • Bun
    • Hot Dog
    • Ketchup
    • Mustard

Assembly Notes

This version requires more gluing and final assembly than the original model, but the overall printing process is much simpler and more user-friendly. The tradeoff is less complexity during printing and easier post-processing.

Blade Files

2 Main Files.

File 1 is for the main Bun & Dog separated and in printable order.

File 2 is for the blades, also numbered, and each is meant to be printed twice.

The blade sections are provided as separate files and are numbered 1 through 5.

Each blade has been configured using Spiral Vase Mode settings so the parts print hollow and telescope properly within one another. This allows the lightsaber mechanism to extend and retract as intended.

Recommended Materials

All parts were successfully printed using:

  • ELEGOO Standard PLA
  • Bambu Studio
  • Included pre-configured 3MF files

The provided 3MF files are already configured for a straightforward "print and go" experience.

Separating the Hot Dogs

If you intend to separate the two hot dog halves, an additional adapter screw will be required to retain the internal blade components within the separated bun section.

The original design did not support a mirrored configuration or threaded retention system, which made both printing and assembly more tedious. This updated version addresses those limitations and provides a much cleaner overall build experience.

Customization

The model is pre-painted for convenience, but you are free to modify the colors using the Fill Paint tool in Bambu Studio to match your personal preferences.

Enjoy the build, and may your hot dog lightsaber be both ridiculous and legendary!
