Disclosure Day Device - Movie Accurate Replica

This is the most geometrically accurate 3D printable replica of the Disclosure Day Device available online.

While other models found on the internet often simplify or misunderstand the complex shapes of this prop, this version was designed completely from scratch in Fusion 360 using meticulous reverse engineering. Instead of just tracing an outline, I spent hours analyzing individual movie frames and reference images to decipher the exact design logic used by the original prop makers.

The Geometry & Design Process

By studying how light and shadows interact with the device's facets across different film frames, I uncovered the underlying mathematical structure of the prop. The entire body is generated by lofting and transitioning between three distinct geometric profiles:
 

1. Top and Bottom Profile: A precise, uniform Heptagon (7-sided polygon).

2.Center Profile: A sharp Square/Rectangle that forms the wide midsection.

This specific combination creates the unique, shifting facets that give the device its iconic look—a detail that other creators completely miss because they don't take the time to figure out how the original designers actually constructed the figure.

Screen-Accurate Details

  • The Glyphs: The symbols engraved on the upper facet were fully recreated from scratch using high-resolution reference images, ensuring every line, dot, and proportion is completely true to the screen.
     

  • Print-Optimized: Designed with structural durability in mind, guaranteeing a flawless print that captures the sharp edges and dramatic transitions of the prop.
