Description

The Breach – Burning Benchy Lantern

A damaged and burning version of the iconic Benchy, created for the MakerWorld "The Breach" contest.

This model represents a Benchy that has survived a disaster: partially destroyed, breached, and glowing from within. The warm light effect is created using a standard electronic flickering tealight, turning the model into a unique decorative lantern.

The model is scaled approximately 4x larger than the original Benchy and has been slightly compressed along the Z-axis to achieve a more lantern-like appearance. Because of these modifications, this model is not intended for printer calibration and should be treated purely as a decorative display piece.

Features

  • Designed for the MakerWorld "The Breach" contest
  • Burning/damaged Benchy theme
  • Warm glowing windows when illuminated
  • Fits most electronic tealights available on the market
  • Internal tealight compartment diameter: 40 mm
  • Approximately 4x larger than the original Benchy
  • Easy multi-part assembly

Material:

I used Sunlu PLA+ black and Sunlu PLA Tranculent orange + classic eletronic tealight 40mm diameter.

Assembly

The model consists of:

  • Hull / main body
  • Roof
  • Window inserts
  • 1 electronic flickering LED tealight (not included)

Simply insert the window pieces, place the electronic tealight inside, and attach the roof.

Scaling

The model is optimized for a 40 mm diameter electronic tealight.

If you have a smaller tealight, you may scale the model down to save material. However, it is important to scale all parts uniformly on all three axes (X, Y, and Z) to maintain proper fit and assembly.

Printing Recommendations

  • Dark filament works best for the burned appearance.
  • Use translucent, white, orange, or amber filament for the windows to maximize the glowing effect.
  • No special printer calibration is required.
  • Print all parts at the same scale.

Bring a breached Benchy back to life and let it glow from the inside!
