Minimalist Desk Clock

An abstract creative clock for reading time, where the 12 o'clock window displays the hour, a single minute hand reads the minutes, and the two combine to view the complete time

The double-layer dial has a safe clearance between layers, ensuring they operate without interference; the inner hour disc directly snaps onto the movement base, requiring no additional limiting parts; the outer scale dial is not fixed with glue but relies on the casing's protrusions + side wall filament insertion for positioning, allowing for non-destructive disassembly and assembly

Local protrusions on the casing require supports for printing, the back cover locks the movement as a whole, balancing aesthetics, printing conditions, and long-term stability

How to read the time: first look at the number displayed in the window, which indicates the hour; then look at the position of the hand, which indicates the minutes

Installation Method

Place the movement as shown and snap it onto the backplate

Once snapped in, the movement position is fixed, ensuring sufficient clearance between the digital disc and the dial later on to prevent friction and interference, and finally, after installing the minute hand, just make minor left and right adjustments to center the movement

Place the dial into the casing from the back until it is flush with the protrusion

A filament can be inserted into this hole to secure the dial

The backplate is connected with M2.5x8 screws

If you are concerned that the support surfaces might affect the appearance, you can print the casing flipped, but the holes on the back might not be fully generated and may require manual post-processing

Insert the digital disc into the lowest end of the movement (hour hand area)

Considering that the window might align with a blank space at the half-hour mark, 12 additional sets of numbers were added for easier time reading (a notch is designed directly above 12 to indicate the exact 12 o'clock position, and 3, 6, and 9 have similar designs)

The font size for two-digit numbers is one size smaller than for single-digit numbers, ensuring that the numbers are fully displayed in the window and appear harmonious

Make sure to press it all the way down and level it

Thread the minute hand into the movement from the top

The minute hand dimensions are carefully designed to avoid friction with the dial, and the hands will not interfere if the clock is overturned

The movement used is a common sweeping silent movement, just choose a standard shaft length (threaded shaft length 5.5mm). I chose a regular "Beijixing" (Polaris) movement, but a radio-controlled movement is also acceptable

Because the clock is constantly running and requires a tight fit, the assembly clearance between all components is only 0.1-0.2mm, so please apply a little force during installation. But don't worry, it will definitely install smoothly
