This is a sink strainer for a DDR sink that screws directly onto the DDR siphon (M6 countersunk screw)

This is based on the original but adapted for 3D printing. (together with a gasket for an approx 45mm hole)

I also designed a matching gasket which I link below. (The original gasket also fits)

The part is usable right off the printer. But it is not perfect. (The two-color version was created because I ran out of filament, but if desired, I can create such a version)

 

Suboptimal Properties: Version 1 (2026-06-16)

  • The top edge is so narrow that it prints somewhat uncleanly. (for V2, I need to increase the thickness of the top layer to at least 2 layers)
  • The underside is partly somewhat unclean due to the rather steep angle (here I will create an additional version with maximum support, I already tested this with a prototype, which worked but was very difficult to remove and used a lot of material)
  • Test of a version with a slightly larger inner diameter so that the original plug fits completely. (but this causes sidewall weakening; the wall thickness is needed to withstand the tensile forces, as a gasket must be pressed by the siphon and the insert)
  • Testing with slower printing only yields a slightly better surface. So far, only improved with significantly more elaborate support.

Max Support Version added: (2026-06-19)

  • Support greatly expanded so that thin sloping surfaces appear cleaner
  • Top edge increased to at least 0.2mm
  • Unfortunately, support is therefore very difficult to remove (unfortunately, I currently lack ASA material for further tests and optimizations)
