3-Watch Winder

Overview

This 3-Watch Watch Winder is designed to keep up to three automatic watches wound simultaneously. It uses a planetary gear arrangement to distribute motion from a single motor, creating an efficient and visually engaging watch winder.

The design features a clean, minimalist appearance while prioritizing ease of printing, assembly, and maintenance. Most components can be printed without supports, and all non-printed hardware is readily available online.

Assembly

Assembly is completed using screws and standard hardware listed above.

The motor drives the central sun gear, which transfers motion through the three planetary gears to rotate each watch holder simultaneously.

 

 

Print Recommendations

  • PLA recommended
  • Most parts print without supports
  • Supports are only required for the Stand to achieve the best surface quality
  • Print gears at a finer layer height for smoother operation
  • Ensure accurate dimensional calibration for optimal gear meshing

Design Inspiration

The mechanism was inspired by planetary gear systems commonly found in automotive transmissions. I was interested in adapting this efficient mechanical arrangement into a fully printable watch winder that combines functionality with visible mechanical movement.

This project is part of my ongoing exploration of printable watch accessories, kinetic objects, and mechanical design.
