M5 Knobs Collection (8mm Hex Nut) – 4 Styles, 3 Sizes
A complete collection of M5 knobs designed for mechanical applications, electronics, 3D printers, bench equipment, jigs, small clamps, and DIY projects.
Compatible with standard M5 nuts, Nyloc self-locking nuts, and common M5 screws/bolts conforming to DIN 934, DIN 985, DIN 933, DIN 931, and DIN 912 standards.

New Wing Knob geometry
The new geometry for the Wing model has also been adopted in this M5 version.
Compared to previous versions, the new design offers better dimensional efficiency, greater structural robustness, a better footprint-to-grip ratio, and a cleaner, more consistent print.
This new shape will also be progressively adopted in the other already published collections.
Unlike previous collections, in this M5 version, I have gathered all variants within a single print profile with named plates. This makes it easier to identify the desired model and quickly choose the most suitable size by consulting the dimensioned images in the gallery.
Each model is available in three sizes:
- Small
- Medium
- Large
for a total of 12 different variants.
Compatible with both nuts and bolts
All knobs have been designed to be used in two configurations.
Female Version
By inserting an M5 nut into the internal hexagonal seat.
Ideal for:
- threaded rods
- screws
- tie rods
- adjustable systems
Male Version
By directly inserting an M5 bolt into the knob.
Ideal for creating:
- clamping screws
- adjustment knobs
- custom locking systems
Double cap included
Each model includes two end caps:

Perforated cap
For use as a female through-knob.
Closed cap
For use as a male knob with integrated bolt.
The caps are designed with screw fastening, in order to:
- prevent teeth from breaking during assembly and disassembly
- allow for repeated opening and closing
- ensure a more stable and effective closure
- achieve a clean and professional finish
During the first assembly, it may be necessary to apply slight pressure to allow the cap to properly engage in its dedicated seat.

After the first assembly and disassembly, operation usually becomes smoother.
If you plan to use only one of the two configurations, you can simply not print the unnecessary cap.
Optimized nut seat
The internal seat is designed to accommodate M5 nuts with an 8mm hex.
Features
- Hex seat depth: approximately 5.6 mm
- Bottom through-hole: Ø5.25 mm
The seat depth allows for the use of not only standard nuts but also:
- self-locking nuts with nylon insert (Nyloc)
- prevailing torque type self-locking nuts
- other equivalent locking systems
Recommended assembly
The hexagonal seat has been deliberately designed with a tight tolerance to prevent the nut from rotating or coming loose during use.
Female Configuration
Insert the nut into the seat and use a screw from the opposite side to pull it completely to the bottom of the seat.
To facilitate the operation, it may be useful to tighten the screw with a wrench.

Male Configuration
Insert the bolt into the knob and screw an external nut onto the threaded part to pull the bolt completely into the seat until it stops.
Continue tightening until the bolt is perfectly locked.

This procedure ensures correct hardware positioning and maximum mechanical resistance.
