This is a high-performance 4-bay HDD rack designed to hold up to four 3.5" mechanical hard drives. It is an ideal solution for NAS storage expansions or systems requiring active, forced-air cooling. The design has been thoroughly tested with enterprise-class drives (Seagate IronWolf) to ensure perfect clearances and reliability.
The enclosure features a front-mounted fan bracket to maintain optimal operating temperatures and extend drive lifespan. The provided print profiles are already optimized and ready to print.
The project includes 4 essential components:
- Main Rack: The core structure equipped with the front fan mount.
- 4x HDD Trays: Dedicated drive caddies where the 3.5" drives are securely hard-mounted using screws.
- 2x Mounting Brackets: Structural brackets to securely fasten the rack to your desired surface.
- Retention Bar: A mechanical stop that locks all 4 trays firmly into place against the backstop.
Assembly & Hardware: The structural assembly of the enclosure and the mounting brackets is designed for strength, requiring the use of M4 heat-set threaded inserts and countersunk screws. The 3.5" hard drives are fastened directly to the trays using standard HDD mounting screws.
Material Notes: The provided ready-to-print plates are configured for PLA, which works perfectly fine for standard usage. However, for maximum peace of mind against heat creep over time (especially in hot environments or closed server cabinets), printing in PETG is recommended.
