Description

The PT-109 was an 80-foot Elco Patrol Torpedo boat operated by the U.S. Navy during World War II, designed for high-speed attacks against enemy ships using torpedoes and machine guns. Built from lightweight wooden construction and powered by powerful gasoline engines, PT boats could exceed 40 knots and were used extensively in the Pacific for patrol, interception, and hit-and-run strike missions.
