I. Background & Dimensions of the Original Vessel
Australia II is an iconic legendary sailboat that broke a century-long monopoly. It claimed victory at the 1983 America's Cup — the world’s premier sailing regatta, named after the first winning yacht America — ending the United States’ 132-year reign over the trophy, an unparalleled milestone in maritime history. This model is inspired by the identical sailboat showcased in Louis Vuitton’s L'Epopée de la Bateau-LV exhibition.
• Key Original Vessel Specifications
◦ Length Overall (LOA): ~19.7 meters (64.6 ft)
◦ Waterline Length: ~13.1 meters
◦ Beam: ~3.7 meters
◦ Draft: ~2.7 meters
◦ Displacement: ~25 tons
◦ Iconic Feature: The revolutionary Winged Keel, a groundbreaking design that drastically boosted stability and speed to secure the championship. It was fitted with carbon fiber masts, Kevlar rigging and vertical sail configuration.
Built exclusively for the 1983 America’s Cup, Australia II was launched in 1982, designed by Ben Lexcen and constructed by Steve Ward, owned by Alan Bond and skippered by John Bertrand. On September 25, 1983, it defeated the American yacht Liberty in the final match, shattering the New York Yacht Club’s 132-year unbeaten streak and taking the America’s Cup out of the US for the very first time. The original vessel is now permanently displayed at the Australian National Maritime Museum in Sydney.

3. 1:72 Premium Collectible Large Scale (Planned for release with support boost)

III. Additional Model Features
1. Precise Recreation: Faithfully replicates the original hull contours, deck layout and winged keel with authentic factory data for complete, high-fidelity details.
2. Upgraded Optimized Winged Keel: The keel structure has been recalibrated, slightly enlarged and shifted forward. This allows the model to stand upright steadily on flat surfaces without a stand, while greatly improving buoyancy balance and sailing posture on water.
3. Dual-Purpose Design: Self-Standing & Floatable: The refined hull design works with weighted keels to float naturally on water, recreating realistic sailing poses.
4. Dual Optional Masts: Two mast sizes included as standard. The 24cm tall mast is for static desktop display to restore the classic silhouette; the revised 18cm short mast is engineered for aquatic use, preventing capsizing caused by excessive top-heaviness.
5. Flexible Printing & Painting Options: The surface is ready for post-print hand painting. Remove support structures gently to avoid snapping the rear rudder. The model files support AMS multi-color printing with preset color schemes. Monochrome prints can be custom-painted to recreate Australia II’s iconic white-and-green livery.
6. Lightweight Structural Printing: Optimized lightweight construction balances structural durability and buoyancy. All three scales (1:72, 1:87, 1:160) are capable of stable floating performance.
