Description

This enclosure was designed specifically for the Sure Electronics / Wondom JAB5 4x100W DSP amplifier board to provide both protection and easy access during DSP development, tuning, and testing.

The design focuses on safety, usability, and print efficiency while keeping the amplifier fully accessible for ADAU1701 DSP configuration and troubleshooting.

Features

  • Custom-fit enclosure for the Sure Electronics / Wondom JAB5 4x100W amplifier board
  • Two-part magnetic design:
    • Bottom case securely holds the amplifier
    • Top cover snaps into place using magnets
  • Uses 4x M3 threaded inserts (M3 x 4 mm length, 4.5 mm outer diameter) to firmly mount the PCB
  • Uses 4x 6x3 mm neodymium magnets to attach the top cover
  • Four mounting holes allow the enclosure to be fixed to a wooden panel, speaker cabinet, workbench, or project enclosure
  • Honeycomb ventilation pattern:
    • Reduces print time
    • Saves filament
    • Improves airflow around power components
  • Designed to minimize accidental short circuits and unwanted contact with exposed electronics
  • Provides additional protection against dust, debris, accidental tool drops, and handling mistakes during development

Why I Designed It

The JAB5 is an excellent amplifier platform, especially when working with the onboard ADAU1701 DSP. However, the exposed PCB can be vulnerable during setup and tuning sessions.

This enclosure allows the board to remain protected while still being easy to open, inspect, and reconfigure. The magnetic lid can be removed in seconds without tools, making DSP adjustments much more convenient than traditional screw-mounted enclosures.

Hardware Required

  • 4x M3 heat-set inserts (M3 x L4 mm x OD4.5 mm)
  • 4x Neodymium magnets 6 mm x 3 mm

Printing Recommendations

  • No supports required
  • 0.20 mm layer height recommended
  • 3 walls recommended
  • 15–20% infill
  • PLA, PETG, or ABS compatible

Compatibility

  • Sure Electronics JAB5
  • Wondom JAB5
  • ADAU1701 DSP amplifier boards using the standard JAB5 layout

Notes

This enclosure is intended for makers, DIY audio enthusiasts, and DSP developers who frequently connect, tune, and test their JAB5 amplifiers. The magnetic cover makes access quick while keeping the electronics protected when not in use.

If you build one, I'd love to see your audio project and any modifications you make to the design. Happy building!
