N20 Urethane RC Tire Mold
Print Profile(1)

Description
This is a simple tire mold I created, based on a Tinkercad design by DrakerDG. It is designed specifically to fit the standard N20 motors commonly found on Amazon. I printed mine using PETG, but PLA should work perfectly fine as well.
Mold Features & Assembly
The top of the mold features several key holes:
- Clamping & Separation: There are four screw holes total. The two smaller holes are used to clamp the mold halves together, while the two larger holes are designed to help pry the mold apart after curing.
- Pour & Vent Holes: There are two large filling holes and two tiny vent holes.
Pouring & Materials
To cast the tire, I used Smooth-On ReoFlex 30.
- Apply Mold Release: Make sure to use a high-quality mold release, or you will struggle to get the finished tire out. I highly recommend Ease Release 200. I tried using Alumilite Mold Release (available at Michaels), but it did not work at all.
- Filling the Mold: I use the smallest 3d printed funnel by BATTCAVE to fill one side while pouring the remaining liquid urethane into the other.
- Overfilling: Continue pouring until the liquid begins to overflow out of both large fill holes, ensuring that a little bit also bubbles out of the two tiny vent holes to prevent air pockets.
