Description
This piece is an attempt to deeply integrate traditional Eastern aesthetics with modern parametric modeling in a desktop object. The surface texture of the body is derived from traditional Chinese 'water wave patterns', and through a modified design adapted for 3D printing, the originally flat overlapping wave lines are translated into a well-arranged three-dimensional relief, showcasing delicate interplay of light and shadow on its rounded, full silhouette.
After the initial design version was released, fans provided feedback hoping for a purer, smoother opening and closing experience for the lid. To achieve this, I completely overturned the original threaded design, and utilizing the inherent resistance from the material's convex and concave features, I switched to a non-threaded, direct-insert dampening structure, to meet the daily practical needs of more users.
To ensure a tight, damped feel even without threads, and at the same time, to perfectly integrate the minimalist 'S' shape line on the lid, resembling a flowing spring, with the water waves on the body of the object, I spent three days performing countless fine-tuning adjustments and prototyping tests, before finally refining this satisfactory piece that combines ultimate visual order, a silky smooth touch, and the warmth of craftsmanship.
