Articulated Muskie (Esox masquinongy)
Print Profile(2)

Description
Musky are the known as the fish of 10,000 casts, they are one of the most elusive and prized gamefish in North America. Their name comes from the Ojibwe word maashkinoozhe, meaning "ugly pike". They can be found in the Great Lakes region of the United States and Canada, stretching as far south as Tennessee. These apex predators are closely related to northern pike (close enough that they can interbreed and produce hybrids) but are bigger and more intelligent. They grow on average up to 48 in (120 mm) and weigh ~35 lbs. Like pike, they are ambush predators that use quick bursts of speed to catch and swallow prey up to ⅔ of their own size. Juveniles can fall prey to a number of fish species, but adults' only natural predators are humans and bald eagles. Besides their rarity, another unique characteristic of these fish is that they have been responsible for documented attacks on humans. Jeremy Wade investigated these attacks and even caught a muskie on River Monsters. I've never caught one, but I did get to see one up close that my uncle caught.
As for the model, it's composed of interlocking scale units that enable a natural swimming motion. The model is printed in two mirror halves that are aligned with the registration pin piece and glued together by the flat sides of the head, tail, and perimeter scales. The model is printed in 5 colors and requires 2 AMS units, but I've also provided a print profile that requires only 4 colors so it can be printed with 1 AMS (only difference is the pupil is brown instead of black.
Happy printing (and fishing)!
