🐧 Pinguin Plumps (Pig Hole) – The Ultimate Family & Travel Game! 🧊

Welcome to my latest project! If you love the classic board game "Pig Hole", you will feel right at home! Pinguin Plumps uses the exact same beloved and proven gameplay mechanics but brings a fresh, frosty, and super cute twist to your table.

A lot of hours of designing, testing, and fine-tuning went into this fast-paced game. It's the perfect travel size, uses smart mechanics, and is completely 3D printable without supports.

📖 The Story

"A bunch of little penguins want to jump into the cool, safe ocean as fast as they can to get to their big fish party! 🐟 But watch out: There’s only room for a few friends on the ice blocks. If an ice block is already full and you add another penguin, they get so spooked that they all waddle right back to you! 🐧💨 Who will be the first to plop all their penguins safely through the big ice hole and into the water?"

📜 Beautiful Two-Sided Inlay Included!

To give you a true premium board game experience, I designed a beautifully illustrated cover and instruction sheet that perfectly match the frosty penguin theme. They are included as separate downloads in both English and German. The idea is simple: Just print both images out on paper, cut them to shape, glue them back-to-back, and you have a perfect custom inlay to place right inside your game box!

🖨️ Print Profiles Explained

I created three specific print profiles so you can choose exactly what you need. All 3D parts are already included!

• Profile 1: Full Game (English) - 0.2mm
• Profile 2: Full Game (German) - 0.2mm
• Profile 3: HQ Miniatures (0.12mm): This profile contains only the penguins and the dice in a much finer 0.12mm layer height for those who want the absolute best quality for the playing pieces!

🎨 AMS & Colors (4 vs. 5 Colors)

The print profiles are perfectly optimized for 1x AMS (4 Colors). Want the 5-color look from my photos? No problem! Simply change the base filament color for the box/lid before printing to get that 5-color premium look.

⚙️ Print Settings & Perfect First Layer

I tweaked the settings heavily to ensure the best possible print quality. For the absolute best surface finish, I highly recommend using the Textured PEI Plate.

• Pro-Tip for absolute perfection: If you still see tiny gaps in your first layer, try increasing the "First Layer Flow Ratio" (e.g., to 1.05 – but this is highly individual to your filament). You can also increase the first layer nozzle and bed temperature by 10°C to melt the lines perfectly together.
• Warning: Be careful with these advanced tweaks, as they can cause over-extrusion!

🔩 Smart Lid Screw Design (Perfect Alignment!)

The screw that secures the lid is designed so its top pattern perfectly matches the pattern on the lid when fully closed. However, since every 3D printer has slightly different tolerances and you might use different materials, it might not always align 100% perfectly when tightened. To solve this, I designed the screw in two separate parts: the thread and the handle. If the pattern doesn't line up perfectly, you can adjust it. Important: Make sure to onlyrotate the threaded part to fix the alignment! Do NOT rotate the handle part itself. Don't worry though: I've done extensive testing and optimized it heavily, so in most cases, it should align perfectly right off the build plate.

Countless hours of design, testing, and fine-tuning went into this fun little board game. It is the perfect travel game and can be printed completely without supports.

📖 The Story

"The large iceberg in the far north starts to wobble! A group of small penguins wants to jump into the sea as quickly as possible to swim to their fish party. But beware: There is only room for a few friends on the ice floes. If an ice floe is already occupied and you add another penguin, they get so scared that they all waddle back to you! Who will be the first to let all their penguins plop safely through the big ice hole into the water?"

📜 Beautiful Inlay (Cover & Instructions) Included!

To make it feel like a real, purchased board game, I designed a fully illustrated cover and game instructions matching the penguin theme. I upload these as files in both German and English. The idea behind it: Simply print out both designs, cut them along the edges, and glue them back-to-back. This way you have a perfect, double-sided inlay that you can simply place on top of your game box!

• Profile 3: HQ Figures & Dice (0.12mm): Those who want the playing pieces and the dice in absolute top quality can print them with this profile at a 0.12mm layer height!

The profiles are set up so that they can be easily printed with one AMS (4 Colors). Do you want the 5-color variant like in my photos? Simply change the base color of the housing/lid before printing in your slicer!

⚙️ Print Settings & The Perfect First Layer

I have optimized countless settings to achieve the best quality. You will get the nicest first layer with the structured PEI plate (Textured PEI).

• Pro-Tip for Perfectionists: Those who still have tiny gaps in the first layer and want to get the absolute maximum out of it can slightly increase the flow for the first layer (e.g., to 1.05 – however, this is an individual guideline). The filament and bed temperature of the first layer can also be increased by 10°C to close gaps completely.
• Warning: Such changes can lead to over-extrusion depending on the filament!

🔩 Clever Screw Design (Perfect Alignment!)

The screw that secures the lid is designed so that its pattern, when tightened, exactly matches the pattern of the lid. However, since every printer has slightly different tolerances and you might use different materials, it sometimes doesn't align 100%. My solution for this: I designed the screw in two parts (consisting of thread and handle). If the pattern does not align perfectly when tightening, you can adjust it. Important: Please only turn the threaded part to correct the alignment! The handle itself must not be rotated. Thanks to my many tests and optimizations, it should fit perfectly right away in most cases.
