Hello everyone! I want to share this model that I care deeply about with you. Looking at the image, you can see the incredible level of detail I managed to achieve.

I wanted to create something that didn't look like the usual smooth and "fake" 3D print, but a true marine sculpture, almost as if it were a piece of ivory or sea-smoothed wood collected on the beach.

The seahorse stands proudly on a base rich in details: small curled waves, seashells, and hints of coral reef that blend harmoniously with its sinuous tail.

Every single bony plate on its back and the skin texture have been refined to capture light beautifully, especially if printed with opaque or textured filaments (like the marble/stone effect, wood, or sand filament you see in the photo).

It's perfect as a home decor piece, for sea lovers, or simply as a precision test for your printer!

🖨️ 3D Printing Tips

This model is rich in subtle details, so here's how I printed it to get the best result:

  • Layer Height: I highly recommend 0.12mm or 0.16mm (or lower with 0.2mm nozzles) to not lose the skin textures and the seashell details on the base.
  • Supports: The model is quite optimized, but depending on your printer's overhang capabilities, small supports might be needed (I recommend Tree Supports, very light and easy to remove) just under the protruding snout and the dorsal fin.( BEFORE REMOVING SUPPORTS, ALLOW THE MODEL TO COOL AND REMOVE GENTLY WITH POINTED PLIERS WITH GREAT PATIENCE )
  • Infill: A classic 10% or 15% (Gyroid) is more than enough; the model is solid and doesn't need much weight.

Recommended filament: For the effect you see in the photo, I recommend a SAND or Marble/Stone filament, an opaque (Matte) cream-colored PLA, or a Wood filament. Shiny filaments risk hiding the beautiful nuances of the sculpted textures.
